Leonardo da Vinci or simply Leonardo, was an Italian Renaissance polymath whose areas of interest included invention, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history, and cartography.
He has been variously called the father of palaeontology, ichnology, and architecture, and is widely considered one of the greatest painters of all time. Sometimes credited with the inventions of the parachute, helicopter and tank.
Leonardo da Vinci's long lost portrait of Christ 'Salvator Mundi' has sold for a record smashing $450.3 million on Wednesday at Christie's in New York more than double the old mark for any work of art at auction.
The painting, which once sold for just $60 at auction, fetched more than four times over the Christie's pre-sale estimate of about $100 million.
'Salvator Mundi', Italian for 'Savior of the World' was purchased by an unidentified buyer bidding via telephone after a protracted bidding war that stretched to nearly 20 minutes at the New York auction house.
Salvator Mundi, an ethereal portrait of Jesus Christ by Leonardo da Vinci which dates to about 1500, has gone under the auctioneers hammer.
Guys, what do you think?

I wonder why the buyer don't want his or her name in print @Frank

Becky, hahahahahahaha. I thought you would be very glad that the portrait of Christ sold this much 😀

this news is far more deeper than what we took it for. Its auction price is far more political and religious than we think. the buyer remains unknown. what if the buyer turns to be a moslem,a shintoist,a calvinist,a jew. what happens to this old portrait frm leornado. who infact should own that portrait? What religion should buy it. Which religion is richer than the other.

@Paro; If the buyer is a Muslim/other faiths, will it jeopardise the significant of the painting?

Scam: when people want to launder money thats how they do it, they hick prices of things then they share the spoil with the buyer or they get commission or percentage
