CURRENT AFFAIRS: Lagos State Governor, Ambode Bans Land Grabbing (Omonile)

Akinwunmi Ambode,the governor of Lagos state,Monday signed a new legislation outlawing land grabbing in lagos. The governor said the new legislation-the Lagos state Properties Protection Law will give legal
backing to the operations of our law enforcement officers"

Ambode believes the new law will ensure that our investors,businessmen and the general populace carry on their legitimate land/property transactions without any hindrance or intimidation henceforth"
The Properties law will eliminate the activities of persons or corporate entities who use force and intimidation to dispossess or prevent any person or entity from acquiring legitimate interest and possession of property" he added.

The signing of the legislation was witnessed by Mudashiru Obasa,Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker and Dele Oloke,Chairman Ikeja Branch of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA).
Offenders risk 21 years jail term.

WE HAVE SEVERAL LAW LIKE THAT IN LAGOS THAT NOT WORKING OR BE ENFORCED.EXAMPLE IS LAGOS TENANCY LAW WHERE LANDLORD IS EXPECTED TO COLLECT ONE YEAR RENT BUT REVERSE IS THE CASE.
