Edeson Online News gathered that two policemen were
killed today at Mile one market in Diobu
area of Port Harcourt. Eye witnesses confirmed
to our reporters that the anti riot Policemen were on motor bike when some men
suspected to be armed robbers opened fire on them. They reportedly died on the
spot.
The incident caused panic in the area as traders and
others at the Mile one market scampered for safety. The eye witnessed added the the Police later
came
with a patrol vehicle to remove the corpses. It could not be confirmed if
the deceased anti riot Policemen were carrying rifles when they were shot
dead.
Our reporters were informed that the incident occurred at about 7.am
today.
In reaction to this, the Rivers state Police
Public Relations Officer, DSP Ben Ugwuegbulam said the policemen were on foot
patrol when the robbers shot them dead. Lamenting the loss he said the Police
were on their trail and would certainly track the armed robbers..
