Abusive Father: Stallone described his father, Frank Stallone Sr., as cold, stoic, and physically violent. He recalled severe beatings, including an incident where his father dragged him off a horse at a polo match and beat him in front of a crowd.
Lack of Maternal Affection: Stallone shared that his mother lacked warmth and never hugged him. His parents viewed his birth—which resulted in facial paralysis, a slur, and a mumble—as a major interruption to their ambitions.
Early Abandonment: He was sent to live with strangers in a boarding house at a very young age while his parents visited only once a month.
Drive vs. Love: Stallone noted that this emotional deprivation and cold upbringing created a fierce, pitbull-like drive that fueled his career, though he did not experience true, unconditional love until he was 70 years old with his wife and children.
Father's Later Change: Towards the end of his life at age 93 while battling cancer, his father softened into a "helpless child" and expressed regret, asking Stallone to be nice to people and forgive.
