Police were called to a youth soccer game in Winter Park, Florida, involving 3-year-old soccer prodigy Nevada Pierre, who scored multiple goals (reportedly 10 goals in about 12 minutes) against older children.
- The Call: An i9 Sports league director contacted emergency services because he stated that Nevada's parents (Martasia Griffin and Don Pierre) were being disruptive, argumentative, and following him around after he tried to substitute Nevada out to give other children equal playing time.
- The Parents' Perspective: The family argued that police were called simply because Nevada was too good at soccer and that he was being penalized for his skill level. [1, 2]
- The Police Response: According to the Winter Park Police Department, officers determined the dispute was a civil matter, no one was arrested or officially trespassed, and the family cooperated and left the park voluntarily after being offered a refund by the league.
