It appears the South West geopolitical zone has become Nigeria’s equivalent of a swing zone as presidential aspirants jostle, trying to outsmart one another to win over the zone in preparations for the forthcoming election. In a move that analysts say shows clear desperation,
President Muhammadu Buhari, last night, surprisingly replaced the day on which the country celebrates its democracy day from May 29 to June 12, the day the 1993 presidential election, which was won by Chief MKO Abiola, was held but was later annulled by then military president Ibrahim Babangida.
Reacting to the president move, the national Chairman of the advance party Yusuf Sanni, stated that though Abiola contributed to the enthronement of democracy in the country , but stressed that the president should honour Abiola in another day.
Sanni said the president was desperate for his re-election ambition adding that it was obvious that the APC would lose because it has performed woefully in office.

This is what past administration as failed to do, June 12 is the best election so far in the history of this, we have been calling on this since the administration of OBJ now we get it some are still not happy about it, am no fan of buhari but with this, I might end up voting for him

Too late! So illogical. Last week he celebrated May 29. He still has a long row which he fails to settle with NASS. In desperation for power, he wants to woo the Yorubas via the dead Abiola and Gani. The earlier Yoruba leaders he used, Obj and Tinubu, he now rubishes their efforts! How can anybody trust such unstable dealer who poses as a leader?

He doesn't need to 'appease' Yorubas. We willingly trooped to the polls to vote for him in 2015 and we will do the same next year. The president enjoys tremendous goodwill in the SW

According to the hausa/fulani ideology, yoruba's are only suitable to be used and dumped like garbage. Remember, Gen Sani Abacha and how he framed up all YORUBA generals in the army and out of service during his last days in office, even obasanjo was not spared.... I think some YORUBA's easily forget history. If they like let them vote in Buhari again, come 2019 simply because of this politically motivated honour.
The Gani Fawehinmi, I know, if he were still alive wouldn't be siding Buhari but the masses because Late. Gani, always took sides with the suffering and deprived ones in the society even though he had every opportunity to dine with the rich and mighty politicians....
