The Meaning Of Net Neutrality & Why It Is Important For You

Endy Edeson
Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers must treat all data on the Internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication. For instance, under these principles, internet service providers are unable to intentionally block, slow down or charge money for specific websites and online content.

However, the chairman of FCC United States is trying to destroy net neutrality. This means that Internet providers will control the websites we open, they will control the application we download, they will decide and control the content we read online.

Net neutrality means that you can choose to do whatever you want with your data and Internet, MTN or Airtel shouldn't decide for you!! Unfortunately, the United States Government is trying to stop this net neutrality. Many big online communities and companies are protesting against this.
If net neutrality is destroyed, it means there are many things you won't see online. E.g They might remove Jesus christ, Bible, church or God from the Internet database through network providers. Things like pornography will be removed from the internet.

If US succeeds in implementing this law, it means other nations will follow suit. Check online communities and companies that are saying big no to this.
The term Net Neutrality was coined by Columbia University media law professor Tim Wu in 2003, as an extension of the longstanding concept of a common carrier, which was used to describe the role of telephone systems.

A widely cited example of a violation of net neutrality principles was the Internet service provider Comcast's secret slowing ("throttling") of uploads from peer-to-peer file sharing (P2P) applications by using forged packets. Comcast did not stop blocking these protocols, like BitTorrent, until the FCC ordered them to stop.
……..
Guys, what do you think?
Do you want Net Neutrality removed?
