Innocent Atheists Under Attack In Malaysia For Abandoning Religion

Non-religious people a.k.a Atheists are not finding things easy in some countries due to religious persecution. The Malaysian government is investigating an international atheist organisation after a picture of a meeting held by the group in Kuala Lumpur went viral. Atheist Republic, a Canada-based non-profit organisation,
often stages meet-ups in larger cities. Malaysia is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious country where atheism is not a federal crime but atheists are often attacked in the country and many countries around the world.

Members of the atheist group are reported to have received death threats on social media. Armin Navabi, the founder of Atheist Republic, noted that there are calls for beheading of members (including himself). Armin Navabi said the group's gatherings caused no harm to the public and were not considered a threat in other countries. In Nigeria, cases of attacks on Atheists by the religious people isn't common. A Nigerian Atheist who pleaded anonymity told us that Atheists shouldn't be stigmatized or persecuted by aggrieved religious folks as freedom of thought and personal liberty is enshrined in the federal constitution. ...
