The Federal Ministry of Health, has launched a campaign to ban smoking in 9 public places across the country. According to Section 9 of the Nigeria Tobacco Control Act 2015, once convicted, offenders are liable to a fine of at least N50, 000 and/or six months’ imprisonment.
Tagged the Clean Air Campaign, the ministry said the law would henceforth be taken seriously in a bid to protect and promote the citizens’ right to health, life, physical integrity and safety.
Public places where smoking is prohibited by law in Nigeria include:
1. Restaurants/bars
2. Educational facilities
3. Health care facilities
4. Playgrounds/amusement parks
5. Public parks (gardens)
6. Stadia
7. Child care facilities
8. Public transportation parks and
9. Plazas.

@Imoleayo: What most people don't know is that smoking can lead to serious health issues such as "kidney failure" if it is not compatible with their bodies.

@David & Becky: Is easy to make policies but to implement is the problem in Nigeria. Even with this campaign, you will still find people smoking in public places

They should make a fin if you smoke you pay 20k with that the rate of smokers will reduce in the country.
