Federal Government Lists 9 Places Where Smoking Is Prohibited

The Federal Ministry of Health, has launched a campaign to ban smoking in 9 public places across the country. According to Section 9 of the Nigeria Tobacco Control Act 2015, once convicted, offenders are liable to a fine of at least N50, 000 and/or six months’ imprisonment.



Tagged the Clean Air Campaign, the ministry said the law would henceforth be taken seriously in a bid to protect and promote the citizens’ right to health, life, physical integrity and safety.
Public places where smoking is prohibited by law in Nigeria include:
1. Restaurants/bars
2. Educational facilities
3. Health care facilities
4. Playgrounds/amusement parks
5. Public parks (gardens)
6. Stadia
7. Child care facilities
8. Public transportation parks and
9. Plazas.

Simply.... they want to ban smoking generally....not style style...
some bars accept smokers...which is their own Prerogative...

personally I dislike smokers but I let them do their things as far as I'm not disturbed

@Imoleayo: What most people don't know is that smoking can lead to serious health issues such as "kidney failure" if it is not compatible with their bodies.

They should make a fin if you smoke you pay 20k with that the rate of smokers will reduce in the country.
