Millions of PINs are stolen each year, leaving users to empty debit accounts or fraudulent charges. This outcry prompts credit card companies to add a chip system as a safer alternative to authenticate transactions before credit cards are debited or charged.
One of the world’s largest credit card providers, MasterCard, has started testing its new biometric credit card that includes a user’s fingerprint. The credit card which combines both the traditional four-digit personal identification number (PIN) and a biometric chip will enable customers to use both their PIN and thumb to authenticate payments.
It’s not something that can be taken or replicated and will help cardholders get on with their lives knowing their payments are protected. Whether unlocking a smartphone or shopping online, the fingerprint is helping to deliver addition convenience and security.

Nice. But a bad thought came to my mind. Maybe it due to films I watch all d time. Don't u think people will start losing their thumb to the ATM thief's. Some of these people are heartless. The can start cutting fingers to get print. Just saying no insults please o

@Elfreda: That's true. You are right. Some heartless criminals can go extra miles in getting what they want. The Credit CARD company should consider this factor too. But a big question is: will a dead finger work?
