It's a double celebration today as leading Nigerian politicians,
Chris Ngige and Ahmed Makarfi turn "Birthday Boys". They were born on
August 8 but on different year.
CHRIS NGIGE PROFILE:
Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige was born on 8 August 1952. He was governor of Anambra State from 29 May 2003 to 17 March 2006 under the People Democratic Party (PDP). He is currently a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was elected Senator for Anambra Central Constituency in April 2011.
A medical doctor by profession, Ngige graduated from the University of Nigeria-Nsukka in 1979. He immediately went into the civil service, serving at the National Assembly and State House clinics at different times. He retired in 1998 as a Deputy Director in the Federal Ministry of Health. On November 11, 2015, Ngige was named minister of Labour and Employment by President Muhammadu Buhari.
AHMED MAKARFI PROFILE:
Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi was born on 8 August 1956 in Kaduna State. He is a Nigerian politician. He was governor of Kaduna State in Nigeria from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007, and was elected Senator for Kaduna North in April 2007. Makarfi, a Muslim, is married and the father of four children.
He is a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He is currently the chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP.
In 1979, Makarfi was admitted to the School of Basic Studies at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He was a part-time Lecturer in the Department of Accounting from 1987-1993. During this time, he received a Master of Science degree in Accounting and Finance.
