I believe many of us have listened to Brenda Fassie's songs. She was
a musician everyone loved and known to sing against apartheid in South
Africa . On this day May 9, 2004, she died. Her most popular song is
“Wedding Day”. She released her first album in 1989 and last album in
2004. She had 12 music albums before she died.Brenda Fassie was born on November 3, 1964 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Her father died when she was only 2 years old.
Her mother is a pianist, she groomed Brenda's music career from childhood.
Brenda had a son, Bongani outside wedlock in 1985 by a fellow Big Dudes musician. She married Nhlanhla Mbambo in 1989 but divorced in 1991. Around this time she became addicted to cocaine and her career suffered.
She collapsed and died after taking overdose of cocaine in 2004. A Post-Mortem report also revealed that she was HIV - Positive. May Her Soul Continue to Rest in Peace. Amen.
