TODAY in HISTORY: Today aPRIL 28 2016 is the 79th Posthumous BIRTHDAY of SADDAM Hussein

Saddam Hussein was the president of Irag. He was born on this day, April 28, 1937. His father died or disappeared 5 months before he was born. He never met his father. His mother remarried, Saddam was beaten, abused and maltreated by his step father which lead him to start stealing and doing other criminal acts. He ran away from home to live with his uncle. Fast forward, On July 16, 1979, Saddam became the president of Iraq. Saddam used money from crude oil sales to develop the economy of Iraq unlike Nigeria where
our leaders divert the whole money and leave the citizens with empty stomach.
Trouble started for Saddam when Iraq and Iran had a land dispute. The war between Iraq and Iran started in 1980 and lasted for about 8 years. Saddam Hussein borrowed money from United States of America and other Arab countries to fight Iran and he eventually won the war.
In another case, Iraq entered into a border dispute with Kuwait, Saddam claimed Kuwait belongs to Iraq. Saddam Hussein led government invaded Kuwait on August 2, 1990, seized oil rich emirate of Kuwait. America supported Irag when it fought with Iran but oppose Iraq for invading Kuwait. America collaborated with United Nations to chase Saddam Hussein away from Kuwait in February 1991.
To cut the story short, Saddam Hussein was executed (killed) for violating United Nations sanctions and using weapons of mass destructions on his rivals.

Today is supposed to be his 79th Birthday if he were to be alive/
QUESTION:
1. How would you describe Saddam Hussein? A Hero or Villain ?
2. Is it proper to wish him a Happy Posthumous birthday, Does he deserve it?
LET’S HAVE YOUR VIEWS.

I WAS THINKING SADAM WAS A TYPICAL BAD LEADER, BUT FROM WAT I JUST READ NOW, MEHN D GUY WAS DOPE AND ON POINT JARE. SADAM HUSSEIN HAD A DOPPLE GANGER WHICH MADE IT POSSIBLE TO BE IN 2 PLACES AT THE SAME TIME

Robinson Emeke Ikebueze

Endy Endeson, you nor well o. Why make a post to celebrate the late rogue, Saddam Husein? Saddam Husein was a dictator and a criminal against humanity. So, he should not be celebrated. Only fools or people of his kind would say that he was a hero.

@shaibu: America is like that, one should be careful when dealing with them, @George: a good man can turn bad when he or she begins to pursue unpopular interest @Robinson: Abacha was a dictator but is still being remembered for few good things he did. I’m not taking sides with what Saddam did, he allowed Power to control him though he initially served his country well @realmichael, niyi, paul, taiwo , Josef, wada & all: I appreaciate your comments. thanks

Adesuyi Olukayode

HE DESERVED TO BE CELEBRATED JARE. AT LEAST HE FOUGHT FOR HIS PEOPLE

Ezeji Nnecky Chidinma

You also forgot to add his evil deeds,he pays his workers 3 dollars in a month. One day he came out to speak in public,he ordered the ppl to stand from morning till night while he sat.One of his sons killed a whole football team bcuz they didn't win a match..He treated his ppl like slaves nd collected a greater portion of whatever he gave them....He wiped out nd killed some Christian communities in iraq, bombed some Catholic hurches ,leaving only the one his deputy attended...So please before praising a devil, ask his followers if they are happy for him nd happy with him

@chidinma: my sister, I'm neither celebrating his good deeds nor condenming his bad deeds. I only presented the topic. thanks for throwing more light on his bad side, this forum is mainly for people to learn and be eduated on topical and vital issues.
