A close associate of Aminu Tambuwal the governor of State has stated
that the wedding ceremony between the governor and his wife, Maryam
Mairo was not an arranged marriage and was not a secret wedding as being
purported by some online news reporters. His associate
simply identified as Jaafar Jaafar disclosed that Aminu Tambuwal's and
his new wife Maryam Mairo Mustapha have been dating since Tambuwal was
the Speaker of House of Representatives
He noted that Chief Imam of Kano, Professor Sani Zahraddeen, officiated
the marriage at the residence of her guardian and that Tambuwal’s
choice to low-key marriage was to avoid wastage as public marriages
attract elaborate parties, chartered flights, mother’s eve, (and even
grandmothers eve), celebrity magazines, etc.
