Endy Edeson Reporting LIVE from Oshodi, Lagos State |
Wondering how I spent this year's Christmas Day? Let me tell you. I
wanted to spend the day indoors but i received a business call around
10am. The business prospect called me on phone to meet him at Oshodi,
Lagos State. luckily I sealed a business deal with him worth thousands
of naira. After my meeting with the client, I took out time to monitor
the situation of things at Bolade Bus Stop Oshodi. I also visited
Nigerian Army Shopping Arena Lagos for fact-findings.
14 Years
ago, Oshodi Bus Stop used to be the busiest Bus stop in the world but
the population in Oshodi Bus Stop has drastically reduced not because
today is Christmas Day but for a measure taken by Lagos State government
to curb traffic congestion in that area. The commissioning of Nigeria
Army Shopping Arena at Oshodi decongested Oshodi market and traffic
around Oshodi.
Endy Edeson Inside Nigerian Army Shopping Arena, Lagos |
I spoke with a military officer at the Army
Shopping Arena who gave me more info about the Arena. He said the Arena
has over 3,000 stalls and the project was put in place by Nigeria Army
to promote Private Investment and operation of Nigeria Army welfare
facilities. To my utmost surprise, the military man who refused to give
me his name was so kind to take me around the Arena when i told him that
I am a Tourist Blogger. I notice that despite the Christmas Holidays,
business activities were still going on at Army Shopping Arena, most of
the business men are Igbos. I took pictures Inside the Shopping Arena.
The LOOK of Oshodi on Christmas Day 2015 |
My findings also reveal that Lagos State Government did not provide
enough FREE LAGOS BUS as promised. I was able to sight only one FREE
LAGOS BUS at Oshodi though i did not make use of it. Lagosians were seen
using normal transport vehicles know as "DANFO" & KEKE". You may
recall that Lagos State Government promised to provide FREE
transportation to Lagos residents on Christmas Day.
As for
Electricity, I peeped through the houses and shops around Oshodi and
discovered there was power supply (electricity), this implied that the
people of Oshodi enjoyed power supply on Christmas Day.
NOW, OVER TO YOU, HOW ARE YOU OR HOW DID YOU SPEND THE CHRISTMAS DAY?
