President
Muhammadu Buhari has approved the process for the Central Bank of
Nigeria, CBN, to commence payment of N65,000 to each former militants in
the Niger Delta. In an electronic mail on Friday, the Head of
Media and Communication of the Amnesty Programme, Mr. Daniel Alabrah,
explained that the apex bank began paying the to each of the beneficiaries of the Amnesty Programme on
Friday.
Alabrah further revealed that the office would commence payment of the allowances and in-training fees for delegates after an ongoing verification exercise.
While pointing out that the outstanding allowances would be paid in batches, he
disclosed that the allowances for May was being paid while those
for June and July would be paid later.
It will be recalled that the Federal Government suspended payment of salaries and allowances to those under the Amnesty Programme at the
inception of the Buhari Administration on May 29.
