Roman Catholic Priest, Rev Fr Francis Agantem Eworo of the Ogoja
Diocese in Cross Rivers state, has signified interest in running for
governor of the state in the 2015 general election. At a media
parley held recently, Rev. Fr Eworo told newsmen that he intends to
contest on the platform of PDP and if elected as Governor, would focus
on youth development among others
Father Eworo who says he has
been involved in the politics of the PDP since 1999,
was ordained a priest in 1977 and has served in various parishes of the Catholic Church in Ogoja, Ikom, Uruan, Calabar, and Akwa Ibom State.

Is it OK for a Catholic priest to want to run for election?
THE worry is that there will be no First Lady if he's elected. Will he have a reverend sister to take the position?

contesting is not a problem. Benue state had Rev. fr. Moses Orshio
Adasu. in 1992/3 and performed so well more than his successors who had
first ladies. first lady sit is not a compulsory. he should carry on.
Only that he may face opposition from the church.

Endy Edeson, it is indeed right and absolutely a welcome development
for a cleric to vie for the said office or any other office in the land.
Sequel to the submissions on this issue by JAM RICHARD, Rev Jolly Nyame
equally contested the same office and won. Today we talk about bad
government, how do we change it if not for morally sound clerics to come
out and participate fully in the electoral process. It is high time
clerics stopped shying away from partisan politics. Again, on this issue
of first lady that office is uncontitutional and also an avenue used for self aggrandisement.
Former gov Orji uzoh of Abia for seven out of eight years of his
administration never had a first lady. President Obasanjo finished his
tenure without a first lady. Etc. So the way this country is going, I
think we need more "MORALLY SOUND" clerics to right the wrongs of this
nation
