Pakistani child education activist Malala Yousafzai has won the Nobel
Peace Prize.At 17, Malala is the youngest recipient of the prize. The
teenager was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen in October 2012 for
campaigning for girls’ education. The Nobel committee said Malala
was awarded the prize “for her struggle against the suppression of
children and young people around the world”.This year’s record
number of 278 nominees included Pope Francis and Congolese gynaecologist
Denis Mukwege, although the full list was kept a secret.It would
be recalled that Pakistani child rights activist, Malala Yousafzat, met
with President Goodluck Jonathan in July this year. One of the outcomes
of her meeting with the President is SHE visited the parents of the
Chibok girls who are passing through horrifying experience following the
abduction of their children over three months ago by the terrorist
group, Boko Haram.
Malala, join her voice in the condemnation of the
abduction of the Nigerian girls, as part of activities to mark her
seventeen birthday, said she was hopeful that the girls would be
released soon as promised by the President.
