The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has asked states to take over
the repairs and maintenance of federal roads in order to reduce the
burden on the Federal Government. The appeal was made on Tuesday during a
two-hour meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. It said states that could afford to take over federal highways should do so as quickly as possible so that the roads do not go into "total deterioration."
Kaduna State governor, Nasir E-Rufai had sent a request to President Buhari to re-designate the Nnamdi Azikwe and the Ahmadu Bello Expressways in Kaduna as state roads so that the state government would "have the power, without any inhibition, to work on the roads to make them better for Kaduna indegenes. The Federal Executive council appealed to other States to borrow a leaf from Kaduna State to take over federal roads to lessen the burden on federal government.
Guys, What do you think?

Where is the money for the repairs?
Endy Edeson
@young: that is, if the State have the money but i think FG will still wade in to support any state that agrees on the terms

Endy, no money in any state now for that. Mr Change should release money for our federal roads maintenance...

@kelly:
you have a point. Politics is the name of the game. For the States that
not financially viable, Federal Government should not delay in
repairing their roads.
