crying that the president failed to nominate candidates from some parts of the country. Some of the States includes: Bayelsa, Taraba, Ondo, Ebonyi, Plateau etc
The Senate, yesterday, approved the ambassadorial nominees whose names were sent to it by President Muhammadu Buhari for legislative approval.
However, Chairman of the committee, Shehu Sani, noted that the screening followed due process, adding that Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, informed the committee that states without nominees had no qualified persons for appointment as career ambassadors based on set guidelines ( most officers from the states affected either did not meet the required minimum of 30 months to their retirement or fell short of other criteria)
More so, the lawmaker said Mr. Lawal gave the assurance that Mr. Buhari would address the seeming lop-sidedness with the appointment of non-career ambassadors.
