The railway reform is aimed at including the private sector to provide
efficient rail services; and reduce dependence on the Federal government
budget to maintain the rail lines.
In a swift move to put this to effect, the Nigerian Senate president, Bukola Saraki, today signed the Nigerian Railway Corporation Bill which is coming nearly 61 years after the act first came into existence. This bill legally and now officially allows private sector competition in the rail sector.
