ECONOMY: Lagos State Partners Kebbi State to Produce 70% of Nigeria Rice Requirement
In a swift move to encourage local content and economic diversification the Federal Government of Nigeria banned the importation of rice through land boarders.
Inline with President Buhari’s local content strategy, Lagos State
governor, Akinwumi Ambode and Kebbi State governor, Atiku Bagudu are
partnering to be major producers of rice in Nigeria. The two State
governments on Wednesday signed an MoU
for production of 70% of
Nigeria’s rice requirement and the production of wheat, maize, sugar and
other food commodities.
