The Kogi State governorship election is happening now, today, Saturday 21, 2015. 21 candidates are contesting in this election but APC candidate
Abubakar Audu and PDP candidate Idris Wada are on the frontline. A
female contestant Ms.Zainab Usman of African Democratic Congress, ADC,
withdrew from the governorship race and then asked her supporters to
vote for APC candidate Abubakar Audu.
Edeson Online News is
currently monitoring the Election in Kogi State. Our correspondent said
accreditation
of voters is ongoing at 21 Local Government Areas of the
State and 239 Wards.
Edeson Online News learnt that a total of
1,397,786 voters were approved by INEC to take part in the polls with
4,548 polling units. About 31,836 policemen are providing security
across the state.
A Kogi State residence, Alhaji Raji
Ridwan who spoke with Edeson Online News said, so far in Ward 2,
they've been accredited but there are cases of card reader failure. He
however stated that the election is expected to start in all the wards
by 1pm.
Deborah Ominyi Kogi State resident excitedly
told Edeson Online News that Kogi is calm and peaceful as the people
decide who governs them.
