SPORTS: NFF Gives Oliseh 3 Months Salary In Advance Worth N15million

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said it has concluded plan to pay the new Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Ogorchukwu Oliseh three months salaries in advance. NFF President Amaju Pinnick disclosed yesterday during the official unveiling of the former Juventus midfield maestro as Coach Stephen Keshi’s successor at the media center of the National Stadium, Abuja.

Oliseh, who is the former Super Eagles captain a signed three-year deal with option of one year renewal after the expiration of the three deal and a monthly salary of N5 million.

“We are excited to get Sunday Oliseh. I have been discussing with different people at CAF and FIFA level and they all said to me that if we need glory, we don’t need to go anywhere and that we have it in Sunday Oliseh.

“The federation has been working as a team. We’ve signed the Pep Guardiola of Africa. He will deliver and as federation, we are ready to give him 100% support that will make him succeed.

“To underscore our seriousness, we are going to pay three salaries in advances. The next time we have to pay him is October.

“The man is ready to work and he has started work already by getting his accommodation but the federation is going to refund him. ”

Oliseh whose first match in charge of the Eagles will be against the Tanzania in Dar-es Salaam was also delighted to assume duty as Eagles coach but was quick to state that he isn’t coming to perform immediate miracles to turn around fortunes of the Super Eagles.

He said unlike before Nigeria no longer boasts of individual players that can win matches, but added that Nigeria has the potential to rule the world again.

“It’s a great honour to be given the opportunity to coach my country. I’m not coming as a messiah but a man who wants to serve. Gone are the days when we have individual players playing. That’s what we have during my generation. But if we have the potential to play as team,” he said.
