President
Buhari says that the US is 'aiding and abetting' terror group Boko Haram
by refusing to supply arms to Nigeria. A US law called the Leahy Law
prevents the US government from selling arms to countries which fail to
tackle human rights abuses. President Buhari made the accusation while
addressing members of the US Institute of Peace yesterday July 22nd "In our efforts at combating the activities of Boko Haram, the new
Government has sought and obtained the support of not only our
neighbours other international friends and partners. Regrettably, the
blanket application of the Leahy Law by the United States on the grounds
of unproven allegations of human rights violations levelled against our
forces has denied us access to appropriate strategic weapons to
prosecute the war against the insurgents.
Our forces have remained largely impotent because they do not possess the appropriate weapons and technology which they could have had, had the so-called human rights violations not been an obstacle. Unwittingly, and I dare say, unintentionally

he
went with a whole clan to the US.. leaving the menacing boko haram to
the hapless people of North East. He was able to borrow billions of
dollars to re build the subregion without talking about the insurgency.
Now he thinks America would bate an eye if Nigeria refuses the gay
marriage clause. It wont be long he would see what Jonathan saw. They
were yabbing Jonathan of using arms inferior to what Boko Haram had....
wetin come dey happen now?

@enyinda:
you have a huge point. it baffled me to hear them discussing rebuilding
NorthEast. i sometimes imagine if they are sane. how can world bank
finance Nigeria to rebuild North East when they've not stop the
insurgency> isn't it futile and waste of money if the insurgents keep
destroying the place. Let FG stamp out insurgency before talking about
rebuilding the affected areas

Actually
rebuilding is something that is sane somewhat. Israel do this every
time when there's a bomb in their country. They don't let that get in
the way, they rebuild that place like nothing happened. Terrorism is a
fear game. If you put that fear into people and win then there's a
problem.

@JESSE:
if they rebuild or not, the fear of "It May Happen Again" is already
there. For instance; someone like me can't reside or set up an office at
WESTGATE SHOPPING MALL Kenya that was attacked and rebuilt. I still
fear that shopping mall despite all the media hype it's getting as it
has been re-opened for business. Don't think i'm always afraid, No. Iam
just being careful. I really love the fact that i live in a peaceful
area of Lagos.
