Cloud computing: Nigerian Airspace Management Agency deploys 'Windows sever 2012' to boost operations

By deploying Windows Server 2012, the Chief Information Officer, (CIO) of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency has said that government agencies can improve service and cuts costs through cloud computing.


The Chief Information Officer, (CIO) of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency Ogochukwu I.F  in a statement said that  Windows Sever 2012 has enabled NAMA to do more with less, thereby reducing cost and enhancing considerably the ICT ROI for their organization and bringing efficiency in the use of technology to value centric proportions.

According to him, NAMA has a mandate to ensure safe, efficient, expeditious and economic flight operations in Nigeria with state of the art technology solutions.

“This also includes enhancing service quality and reducing costs for its customers. Furthermore, it is tasked to develop the Nigerian airspace to a level that is consistent with international standards, AFI Region and ICAO CNS/ATM Global plans.

“By deploying Windows Server 2012, the agency will save money as well as make ICT work for air navigation in line with its mandate” he said.

Since the government agency was already utilizing a lot of Microsoft products and technologies, he said that it became a logical step to deploy Windows Server 2012, adding that the solution contains all the features that NAMA was looking for.

With the Microsoft solution, he testified that NAMA has reduced IT costs, have access to the most cutting-edge features in cloud computing , been able to utilize the agency’s existing IT infrastructure , provided better service to its customers among others.

Established via Act. 48 of 1999 by the Federal Government of Nigeria, he said that NAMA was tasked with providing safe, efficient and economic air navigation services that will meet international standards.

To this end, the government agency, according to him, desires to provide better service to its customers and increase efficiency within the agency by making use of cutting-edge technology through its private cloud.

NAMA Microsoft Server Product Portfolio, according to him are not limited to the following:Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft Dynamics AX, among others.
