AKON & WYCLEF to Feature In a New NOLLYWOOD Movie:
International musical acts, Wyclef Jean and Akon will feature in a new Nollywood movie entitled "Black November".  A close Nollywood insider authoritatively told Edeson Online News through a telephone chat that the movie is directed by renown film maker Jeta Amata  and the movie is about the Niger Delta struggles and features Nollywood stop actors and actresses like  Fred Amata, Nse Ikpe-Etim, OC Ukeje, and Robert Peters in the big-budget film. It also has Hollywood actors like Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Mickey Rourke, Kim Basinger, Sarah Wayne Callies and Anne Heche.

OMOTOLA JALADE & INI EDO are Back to Nigeria:
Nollywood top acts; Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and Ini Edo are both back in the country after weeks of absence. B-R-E-A-K-I-N-G NEWS: Diezani Alison-Madueke hospitalized!
A few days after breaking the news that President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience Jonathan, was hospitalized in Germany, SaharaReporters has learnt that Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s Minister for Petroleum Resources, is also receiving treatment in a London hospital for a serious medical condition. One of our sources disclosed that Mrs. Madueke’s condition did not require immediate hospitalization, but described it as “potentially serious.”

FG finally Endorses N5000 note:
The federal government yesterday formally endorsed the introduction of the 5,000 naira note introduction despite the criticism that has greeted its introduction. In a meeting of the Economic Management Team chaired by President Goodluck Jonathan, the CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido gave a detailed explanation of the programme.

Okada Banned in Delta State:
DELTA State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, yesterday, announced the ban of commercial motorcycles otherwise known as Okada in Asaba, the state capital and other major cities, with effect from this month. Uduaghan, who received the new boss of Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, in Delta State, Commander Ada Ajenge, who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House Asaba, said:  “I have constituted a committee headed  by the Commissioner for Transport to liaise with the various Okada unions to over-see the purchase of tricycles.

NUC Inaugurates New Portal:
National Universities Commission, NUC, is  to inaugurate its first Online Programme Accreditation Portal. The programme, slated to be inaugurated on September 7, 2012, at the University of Calabar, Cross River State is user friendly. The portal is one of the benefits of National Universities Commission Data Base, NUCDB, project, launched in November 2008 to make the commission more effective in its regulatory functions, for improved quality of graduates and programmes in the country.

SPORTS UPDATE: Nigeria Crashes Out from Female U-20 World Cup:                        Super Falconet' hope of winning this year’s FIFA World Cup was dashed yesterday after they were beaten 2-0 by the USA. USA thus avenged a 2012 semi-final edition loss to the Nigerians to book a place in the final of this year’s competition. Nigeria will now play a third-placed match against host Japan who lost 0-3 to defending champions Germany in the second semi final.

Japan to Buy Chinese Island::
Media reports from Japan say the government has reached a deal to buy disputed islands in the East China Sea from their private owner. The government will pay 2.05bn yen ($26m, £16.4m) to buy islands known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China. There was no confirmation from officials, but the reports were carried by major Japanese media outlets, citing government sources.

Accident Claims Lives in Morocco:
In the week, at least 42 people died when a bus plunged into a ravine in southern Morocco, officials say. More than 20 others are reported to have been injured, some seriously. The bus, travelling between the cities of Marrakesh and Zagora, left the road near the town of Zerkten in Haouz province and fell 150m (490ft), local officials said. Most of the passengers are believed to be Moroccan. It is not clear if any foreigners are among the casualties.
