Patience JONATHAN Not Sick:
The special adviser to the president on Media and
Publicity, Reuben Abati has denied reports indicating that the First Lady, Dame
Patience Jonathan was indisposed and flown abroad for proper medical attention.
While responding to reports which emanated from an online news platform, Abati
said the story “was a rumour and there is nothing like that”.
According to reports from the first lady’s spokesman, Ayo Osinlu, Dame Patience Jonathan did actually travel abroad, but she was only away to take a “moment’s rest” given that she has not taken a rest since President Jonathan’s election last year.

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Ola
Vincent is dead.
The country was thrown into another moment of mourning following the death of former CBN governor, Ola Vincent. He died yesterday at St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos where he was receiving treatment for an unknown illness. The late Vincent was born on May 16, 1925 in Lagos, he attended CMS Grammar School,Lagos (1936–1939). He served in the Nigerian Armed Forces between 1942 and 1946, and then worked in the Financial Secretary’s Office, Lagos between1946 and 1956. In 1951 he attended the Administrative Staff College in England, and from 1953 to 1956 he studied at the University of Manchester. From 1957 to 1960 he was a part-time lecturer of Economics at the University of Ibadan.

South African Miners Freed:
About
50 South African miners have been freed after murder charges against them,
relating to the deaths of 34 miners shot by police, were dropped. Prosecutors decided to provisionally set aside
charges against 270 striking workers from the Marikana mine following a public
outcry. On Sunday, the prosecution announced the murder charges would be
suspended until the outcome of a judge-led inquiry into the events of 16 August
at the Lonmin-owned Marikana platinum mine. The charges, levelled under a
controversial apartheid-era law to accuse the miners of provoking police to
open fire, were suspended after widespread condemnation.

Ronaldo is not Happy::
Real
Madrid star striker Cristiano Ronaldo sparked a storm of media speculation over
his future yesterday by saying he was ‘sad’ at the club. Ronaldo scored a brace
in Madrid’s 3-0 win over Granada on Sunday but did not celebrate either goal. Quizzed
by reporters after the game at the Santiago Bernabeu, he said: “It could be
because I am a bit sad. That is the only reason. When I don’t celebrate goals,
I am not happy.” Ronaldo was elusive about the reasons for his unhappiness,
saying only that it was professional rather than personal. “I am not going to
say more. People know why,” he was quoted as saying in the media.

Wins New Awards:
THE
singing sensation known as Wizkid, Ayodele Balogun, has continued with
his streak of good fortunes as the 24-year-old singer clinched two awards at
the annual Nigerian Entertainment Awards in New York City on Sunday,
September 2, 2012. Wizkid, who was on tour of the United States of America with
his EME crew, including Banky W. Young Skales and others ended the tour on a
high note when he took home Artist Of The Year and Best Album Of The Year
awards.
The event which held at the Skirball Centre for Performing Arts, New
York City was hosted by duo of Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele and super
comedian, Ayodele Makoun, simply known as AY. The award which is the 7th
edition is a brainchild of Iman Entertainment and proudly supported by Arik
Air, Federal Palace Hotel, Moneygram, BellaNaija among others.
NBC Banns Wandel Coal’s New Video:
National Broadcasting
Commission (NBC) over the weekend banned Wande Coal's Go Low video for
showing too much 'Nudity'. But fortunately for people who love the
video, the ban is restricted to local TV stations. Channel O, Trace, MTV Base,
Sound City etc will continue to play the video.

The Channel O MVA 2012 is here again and as always Nigerian artistes have shown their music dominance on the African continent. Well, except for South Africa (Channel O’s home country). Nigeria artistes showed class and got nominated in almost all categories except for those limited to specific regions. The annual Channel O Music Video Awards has grown to become Channel O’s signature event. 2012 will see the awards taking place on Saturday, 17th November at Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown, bringing the Channel O Music Video Awards to Soweto for the first time. According to reports about 17 Nigerian musicians were nominated for this year’s Chanel O Awards, some of them are Brymo, Naeto C, Davido, Dbanj, Mocheddah, P-Square, Ice Prince, 2Face, Wizkid etc.

Bobby Brown’s Wife Hospitalized:

Etheredge-Brown was rushed to hospital on Saturday after suffering a seizure
according to a local report. The report went on to say that Alicia had the
seizure in their hotel room in Kissimmee, Fla as Bobby was performing a sound
check ahead of the New Edition show which was to take place at the Gaylord
Palms Resort. Alicia is also Bobby’s manager. Bobby made the confirmation
via Twitter, writing, “The report that my wife was rushed to the hospital is
true. She is recovering and is in good spirits and doing well. Please keep my
family in your prayers,” he added. He however managed to perform as planned and
shared some positive news with the audience.

Klum Now Dating Her Bodyguard?:
Super
model Heidi Klum who is also the estranged wife of music icon SEAL has started dating her bodyguard, Martin
Kristen with whom she was seen sharing a cozy moment with during a family day
in Italy. Seal was clearly disappointed as he stated saying of their split. The
couple separated way back in January and with Seal’s claims, it seems it was
because Klum, 39, was cheating on him. However, Klum claims this has nothing to
do with cheating as the end of their relationship was as much of a shock as it
was for her fans. She said that she was seeking comfort from her friend during
this difficult time.
Manchester City coach confirmed to reporters that the 22yr old Italian striker is no longer able to wear contact lenses and requires immediate surgery to correct his Myopia. Myopia is commonly known as shortsightedness. Mario is not ready to return to the pitch yet. He no longer seems to tolerate contact lenses. He's feeling alright now, but the problem can return anytime'- the coach told reporters. The surgery is set for Sept 4th.
