 Linda Ikeji Failed To Win Future Awards:
It was really a sad moment for Nigeria’s number one Online Journalist, Linda Ikeji after she failed to win an award she was nominated for in the just concluded FUTURE AWARDS that was held in Port-Harcourt on Sunday. She was nominated as Young Person of the Year but sadly lost the award to one Mr. Idris Akinbanjo.
EDESON Online News correspondent, Chris Okafor who attended the award ceremony reported that ‘crazy’ Denrele Edun won the On-Air-Personality (TV)- of the year award,
Sexy and erotic Nollywood actress Tonto Dike won the Actor of the Year award, promising singer, WIZKID won the Musician of the Year- and other industrious Nigerians also bagged the Awards in different categories.
It would be noted that Future Awards is aimed at supporting and recognizing young and enterprising Nigerians.


2. NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT to Rebuild UN Office with 2.6 Billion Naira:

One year after the bombing of United Nations office in the country, the Federal Government has committed N2.6 billion for the rebuilding of the UN House and also promised to refund $580,000 spent on treatment of victims. Disclosing this at a memorial ceremony for the victims in Abuja yesterday, Senator Bala Mohammed, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, who said the UN House bombing was a wake-up call to make Abuja a safe and secure capital city, assured that the government had risen up to the occasion.

3. JOURNALIST To Enjoy Free MEDICAL SERVICE::                                                                          MEDIA practitioners attending the 8th West African Health Conference and Exhibition, WAH Nigeria 2012, are to benefit from comprehensive medical checks, while the event lasts. The event organisers say there would also be take-home sphygnomethers and other medical devices designed for home use. Journalists would be checked for common medical conditions of public health concern. In a statement, Coordinator, WAH 2012, Mr. Solomon Sobade, said the journalists would be screened for cardiovascular diseases, kidney and liver function, HIV, malaria, among others.

Senate Orders Suspension of 5000 Naira Notes:: The Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions yesterday directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to suspend the introduction of N5, 000 note until the Senate was properly briefed. The Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Bassey Otu (PDP- Cross River) issued the directive while speaking to newsmen in Abuja. Otu noted that the re-denomination of currency required the approval of the National Assembly, warning that the CBN must avoid sending the wrong signals to stakeholders in the economy.

Cynthia Osokogu To Be Buried On September 7::                                          Miss Cynthia Osokogu, the victim of an Internet dating transaction, will be buried on Sept. 7 at Bebe, Ovia Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta. Cynthia, a postgraduate student of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, was allegedly killed by friends she met on the social media, Facebook, at a hotel in Festac, Lagos in July. The suspected killers of the young woman allegedly lured her to Lagos on a phoney business deal and killed her in a hotel room. Mrs Joy Osokogu , who announced the date of her burial to journalists in Jos yesterday, advised youths to be very cautious of making friends with people that they did not know. Meanwhile, Four suspects were arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate Court yesterday for her death. The suspects, Okwumo Nwabufo, 33; Ezike Olisaeloka, 23; Orji Osita, 32; and Maduakor Chukwunonso, 25, are facing trial on an eight-count charge of felony, conspiracy, robbery and murder.

BUSINESS NEWS: APPLE asks Court To Ban SAMSUNG::                                                              Technology company, Apple is asking a court in California to ban eight Samsung devices from the US market, following a court victory over its South Korean rival. The phones include the Galaxy S 4G, Galaxy S2 AT&T model, Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, Galaxy S2 T-Mobile model, Galaxy S2 Epic 4G, Galaxy S Showcase, Droid Charge and Galaxy Prevail. It comes in the wake of Apple's US court victory over its rival, which saw the South Korean company ordered to pay $1.05bn (£655m) for copying patents.

According to the report, the Dami duro crooner donated money to save the life of a dying breast cancer patient. Idiagbonya Osarere Debbie is a medical technician who is suffering from 4th grade Invasive Ductal Carcinoma - cancer of the breast and its spreading really really fast.
