1. JEREMIAH GYANG WIFE DELIVERS; Famous
Nigerian Singer Jeremiah Gyang and wife Ladi, welcomed their first child, a
baby girl on Friday August 17th. The couple married in August 2010 after dating
for many years.
2. HOLLYWOOD DIRECTOR TONY SCOTT COMMITS SUICIDE; The director of 'Unstoppable', 'Top Gun', 'Beverly Hills Cop II', Tony Scott has committed suicide. The 68 year old younger brother of popular movie director, Ridley Scott, jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California yesterday Sunday August 19th at about 12.30pm. Investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department found contact information in his car, which was parked near the bridge, and a suicide note in his office. A passerby who saw Scott jump from the bridge called 911. His body has been recovered from the water. Scott’s last film as a director was 2010’s Unstoppable. He is survived by his wife, Donna Wilson Scott, and their twin sons, Frank and Max.

China, Model Wen Xia was crowned 2012 MISS WORLD on Saturday 18, 2012.
4. CLIFFORD ORJI is DEAD!: Last week,
it was reported that alleged Nigerian cannibal, Clifford Orji has died at
Kirikiri Maximum prison Lagos where he had been detained for over a decade.
5. JAIL BREAK in EDO STATE: about ten
prisoners escaped from Oko prison Benin City, Edo State following a jail break.
Reports say unknown gunmen attacked the prison yard and set some of the
prisoners free.
6. OCEAN SURGE in LAGOS: last week
Saturday was another tragic day in Lagos after Atlantic Ocean surge killed more
than 10 persons and displaced many persons at Kuramo beach Lagos.
7. OKADA to be Banned in BAYELSA:
Commercial motorcycle popularly known as OKADA in Nigeria will be banned in
Bayelsa State at the end of August 2012. The State government has started
procuring TAXIs which will replace OKADA means of transportation in Bayelsa.
8. PLANE Crash in SUDAN: Yesterday, at
about 1.am, Sudanese religious affairs, Ghazi al-Sadiq Abdel Rahim and 34 other
persons died in a plane crash.
9. FILLING STATIONS closed DOWN: four
filling stations have been shut down in Anambra State for selling fuel for
above the approved pump price of 97 naira. These filling stations were caught
selling a litre of fuel between 120 naira ad 150 naira.
10. NUPENG on Strike: NUPENG strike which
started since Wednesday last week has caused fuel scarcity in many parts of the
country.
11. Curbing HIV/AIDS in Cross Rivers:
Cross Rivers State government has approved the procurement of 100 million naira
worth of HIV/AID Test kits to check the spread of HIV in that area. Reports say
the spread of HIV/AIDS has drastically reduced in Cross State.
12. MOURNING In SOUTH AFRICA: president
Jacob Zuma of South Africa has declared One Week national mourning for the
protesting miners who died in a sporadic shooting last week . Meanwhile, other
miners are still protesting calling for government to hear their cry.
13. SAMSUNG new PRODUCT: Technology
company SAMSUNG Mobile has concluded plans to unveil new Galaxy note on August
29, 2012.
14. FEMALE under 20 World Cup BEGINS:
Female U-20 World cup kicked off yesterday in Japan. Nigeria’s falconet started
the games on a brighter note after defeating South Korea 2-0. The Nigerian team
will play their next match with Brazilian team on Wednesday August 22, 2012 at
7.am Nigerian time.
