Presidential Aspirant, Donald Duke Denies Being Obasanjo's Stooge

A presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) Mr Donald Duke , on Tuesday, said that his ambition was not backed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo . Duke , a former governor of Cross River , who recently declared his intention to run for the exalted office
, told newsmen in Lagos that though he remained close to Obasanjo , his decision to run was personal .

“ I am not hypocritical . I am close the former president but he is neither my sponsor nor backup". However, those who come up with these propaganda also go to get the ex - president ’ s endorsement. “ I will not keep people aside because of what others think . I need everybody ’ s support but I
am running as Duke and nobody’ s stooge .

“ I will be putting myself up to run. How it pans out is not what I can say ’’ he said .
On the zoning in the PDP , Duke said that it would not deter him from running as it remained his constitutional rights.

“ Let the people decide . Zoning is undemocratic . I am running as a Nigerian. Zoning has never brought out the best in us . It brings compromise , ’’ he said .
He , however , said that his candidature and final platform would be determined on what unfolds in the party.

Duke is good to go! Whosever is looking for a way to dent him, should hold his/her peace. I know there will be uproar, because he is a major opponent to pmb, but Nigerians should swallow sentiments, and do the needful, we can't continue like this

Its just because it's crystal clear that Obasanjo has become irrelevant in the Nigerian politics, so he needs to denounce his relationship with him. Well done...

@David: It's laughable but Trump scenario can also happen in Nigeria, where the least expected emerges winner. @Isiaq; Well said. In fact, Obasanjo made himself irrelevant by gallivanting and making mockery of himself. Buhari is gradually changing all his policies

well, if the full story i read can be trusted, duke never deny his relationship with obj. but stated the fact that, he is not endorsed by obj, and that he is coming out as " donald duke! and i think its high time we do away with partisanship, godfatherism, and take our destiny in our own hands...especially WE THE YOUTHS.
