Endy Edeson & Singer Mayorkun |
According to him:
I am a big fan of Mayorkun and I like the song ‘’mama’’ but I don’t like the ‘‘Thunder fire the person Wey say I no go love you’’ part of the song. It was because of that part of the lyrics I didn’t bother to download the song but because I listen to radio a lot, it is unavoidable for me not to listen to it as all radio stations in Lagos even put it on replay.
It baffles me that radio stations in Lagos State / Nigeria play this song without editing out that part of the song. If “Thunder Fire You’’ is not yet a vulgar language it should be included ASAP. The media shouldn’t stress on only the ‘F’ word but should also block other abusive and derogatory statements.
I am not calling for outright banning of the song but it should have a radio/TV version or mass media version. This applies to other songs which contains vulgar words that are not ‘F’ word.
Guys, that is my viewpoint, what do you think?
Which other vulgar words you noticed on any song?

@Fashoro & Patra: I understand your angle but you have to understand that kids listen to radio and watch TV, 'vulgar' languages like ''Thunder Fire You'' isn't good for them to hear all the time. Little things like this we overlook have great impact in the society. Of course, I love Mayorkun, I am just concerned about the use of these vulgar languages.

I think the NBC should take note of this and take serious measure on it. Good observation from Oga Eddy.

When u pay less attention to small fires they'll becum wildfires in the future. Pple nid to understand that our upcoming kids are fast learners and thus the need to control contents with derogatory terms. God help us.

@Vincent: You are on point. People do what they constantly hear or watch so it is important to hear the right things
