Army Takes Over Zimbabwe, Mugabe Now Under Seige, Agrees To Step Down

The military has seized control in Zimbabwe but has said President Robert Mugabe, in power since 1980, is safe. After seizing state TV, an army spokesman announced it was targeting people close to Mr Mugabe who had caused "social and economic suffering". The move came after Mr Mugabe sacked his deputy, Emmerson Mnangagwa, in favour of his wife, Grace.

Heavy gun and artillery fire could be heard in northern parts of the capital Harare early on Wednesday. A statement read out by a general on air denied it was a coup. There was no immediate word from the president himself.

Mr Mugabe, 93, has dominated the impoverished country's political scene since independence from the UK.

The UK Foreign Office advised Britons "currently in Harare to remain safely at home or in their accommodation until the situation becomes clearer", while the US embassy in Harare advised US citizens in Zimbabwe to "shelter in place" until further notice.
Verified reports confirm that Bob Mugabe has negotiated for Grace to leave the country while he prepares to step down.

Solidiers indeed have the President and his Presidential guard under siege. Zimbabweans are urged to stay away from the Central Business District untill further notice.

Good riddance to bad rubbish

Ha ha. Military and judiciary don't sound well. They're opposites. Make no mistake, Mugabe had to go. Not because he was terrible but because be had done the unthinkable and that is to purge all western influence from his country. The day he returned all lands to blacks was the day he became a marked man.

Yes, he's stayed too long, probably more than he should've but by no means was be terrible. The mistakes we Africans make is that we've come to believe the only form of government is the Western type and it can and will never work in Africa where the differences are too great to overcome.

Libya worked under Gaddafi even with the long stay and the people lacked little but he was a threat to the West. All Pan Africanists have been purged out and all those that oppose the West and want a free country for their people are been chased out.

If this coup was carried out in Nigeria you would hear the outcry from the west. Why? Because it's their territory and they have supreme control.

The West don't want competition or someone that wants the best for his people. Gbagbo had to leave for the same reason.

Mugabe though made mistakes. He had not planned ahead and found a successor. Part of it was not finding someone he thought he could trust to carry on the fight and who can blame him when Sankara was betrayed by his own friend in Burkina Faso. He should've taken the risk but he didn't

They myth is that he's made them poor. But like North Korea the West have done all they can to make them cave from within but he's weathered the storm.

Why was Zimbabwe suffering sanctions years past? For what reason? Because they decided to take their lands back and give it to the blacks. Is that enough to sanction a nation from the international community? But who cares, we Africans dance to the tune of the West and think all we hear from them is gospel. That's why majority still take the white man's religion as gospel and call ours idol worship

Wow, wonderful...!
I really hate it when we blame the whites or westerns. We seem to forget that Africans are perpetually wicked and evil!
It's even the whites that are graciously helping us to become normal Humans. Before now, Africans, especially, were not different from animals in a jungle. We had no clothes. We wear rags. We use humans for sacrifice. And when a chief dies, we kill precious humans to escort them to the so-called land of the dead. When a woman gives birth to precious twins, we called the twins evil and killed one or both of them. At that time, was it also the whites that should be blamed for our barbaric and carnivorous animalism?
But when the whites, in their tour around the world, found that there are precious humans living like animals, they were graciously moved with compassion. They came down to help us become normal humans even at the risk of their precious lives. They started educating us, they taught us to love, they revealed God's love to us, they covered our nakedness, they showed us how to eat healthy foods, they built free hospitals for us treated our ailments and diseases for free even when most of us resisted such glorious development, and so much more.
Obviously, our nefarious ungratefulness is our ruin! See how terribly ungrateful we're! Tufiakwa...!!! When did we even start to wear pants that we're foolishly biting the wonderful fingers that fed us and graciously showed us how to become normal humans? But for their wonderful love, we would have still been in the bush by now. Wicked Africans...!
Nigeria was beginning to look like a country under the British government. They educated Zik and others. We couldn't even wait to become normal humans when we strangely asked for a whole independence! So, where are we today? Still behaving like animals in a jungle with religious hatred, ethnic hatred and barbaric killings. We're yet to be normal humans with African leaders as kings of the jungle! How unfortunate...!!!
Education, under British was awesome. But we're are we today? Schools in most states have grasses growing on their walls. If the British had continued, we would have been normal humans by now. We would have been a developed nation like they did in Hong Kong and South Africa.
Look at South Africa today, because the British is still their government as civil servants, they're now a developed country. Even now, try and remove the British from South Africa, they'd become a zoo. Africans hate development and love. Nigeria can never develope till we have the developed countries working in our civil service or giving out the administration of Nigeria on contract for 200years with ceremonial head as President.
We stop blaming the whites and rather be passionately grateful to them. We're nothing without them. Enough of the deceit. Nigerians are doing wonderfully well across the world because they are under a government controlled by normal humans. Bring same Nigerians like the great Philip Emeagwali back to Nigeria and see if they'd still be alive in few days. They all left our shores but have been transformed by normal people.
As long as we live, we owe the whites everlasting gratitude! Let's be grateful!

Edeson my brother, I see two things here in this matter....1. UK and US are working in order to eliminate Mogabe just as they eliminated Gadaffi of Libya......2. That sit is not a family affair. He should resign and hand over to another parson not given it to the wife.
