MTN, Glo, Airtel & 9MObile Tell NCC To Block WhatsApp

Nowadays, only few people make international calls due to the presence of Over-the-top (OTT) plays like Whatsapp, Skype, Wechat, Facebook, Viber and IMO. This caused a global revenue loss of $386 billion, from 2012 to 2017 for the telecoms operators.
Hence, MTN, Airtel, GLO and 9Mobile are lamenting, urging the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to intervene and stop OTT services . In opposition to this, Nigerians are of the opinion that OTT plays should be left alone, because we users buy data from the Telecoms to access services like WhatsApp, Skype, etc. While they are lamenting losses from voice/video calls, they are, on the other hand, jubilating from excess gains they make from data. Guys, what do you think? ............................................

To me, telecom companies shouldn't complain, they still charge high on calls and data,if not I prefer to just take my phone and dial a number. In develop nations where Telecom companies operate, calls and data are very cheap, almost nothing to their customers that's why development is rapid coz a nation where access to broadband cost almost nothing will do well in research and invention, so they should bring down their charges
