Roger Federer Wins Record Breaking 8th Wimbledon Title

The Championships, Wimbledon, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world, and is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts.

Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the others being the Australian Open, the French Open and the US Open. Since the Australian Open shifted to hardcourt in 1988, Wimbledon is the only major still played on grass.

Roger Federer is a Swiss professional tennis player who is ranked world no.3 by the Association of Tennis Professionals.

World no 3, Roger Federer beat his fellow counter-part, Marlin Cilic in 1hour 41minutes game session 6-3 6-1 6-4 one-sided triumph.

The Swiss won his first wimblemdon title since 2012, extending his record to 19 Grand Slam titles making him the most successful men in singles Grand Slams. "Wimbledon was always my favourite tournament.  Will always be my favourite tournament," said Federer, who will turn 36 next month and is the oldest male champion at the All England Club in the Open era, which began in 1968.
