In a desperate move to revive the nation from economic recession, Federal Government of Nigeria plans to sell its major assets. Those calling for the sale of national assets are: Aliko Dangote, Africa richest man;
Godwin Emefiele, CBN governor; Senator Udo Udoma, Minister of Budget and Planning; Bukola Saraki , Senate President, among other notable Nigerians.
Also, The National Economic Council, which comprises Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and 36 state governors, is backing the plans for the sale of some national assets.
The proposed Assets to be sold are: Government shares in Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), Some aircraft in the presidential fleet, Kaduna refinery, Warri refinery, Port Harcourt refinery, National Stadium & Theatre. About $15 billion dollars is expected to be generated if the Assets are sold.
Some Nigerians are of the opinion that the assets should be sold to State governments or foreign investors but not to Individuals like Aliko Dangote as they sense the businessman plans to be very rich at the expense of poor Nigeria with his numerous investments and monopolistic attitude.
NOW, THE BALL IS ON YOUR CUT.
1. Do you support the Sale of National Assets?
2. Which of the National Assets would you describe as Moribound?
3. Are their other ways Nigeria can generate income without selling National Assets?
YOUR VIEWS PLEASE. THANKS.
