President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Ibrahim Kpotun Idris as the new Inspector General of police. Kpotun replaces Solomon Arase as police. Mr. Arase retired today, June 21, 2016, as he marks his 60th
birthday.
Below is 5 Things you probably didn't know about the New IG of Police
1. Idris served as a commissioner of police in Kano and Nasarawa
2. He has a degree in Law and in Agriculture at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and University of Maiduguri respectively
3. Ibrahim Kpotun Idris started his police career in 1984 when he joined the force as Cadet
4. He is the 19th indigenous Inspector-General of Police.
5. He was the Deputy Police Commissioner Operations and Second in Command at the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor Leste UNMIT between 2009 to April 2011
6. He was Commandant, Mobile Force Training School, Gwoza Borno State, from February 1998 to January 31 2004.
