After a long wait, Nigerian Senate has finally passed the
controversial 2016 budget . It would be recalled that President Buhari
presented N6.08 trillion proposal in December 2015 but the Senate passed
N6,060,677,358, 277 This is the first time since 1999 the National Assembly would approve a
budget with figure lower than what the president presented.

think the issues surrounding this budget have been there for a long
time, If not for the uploading of the complete budget before its passage
into law and the public scrutiny and outcry that followed, it would
have been passed long ago. In the light of these developments I would
expect a much earlier submission of the of the 2017 budget proposal.
