POLITICS: Federal Govt Freezes Goodluck Jonathan’s Associates’ Accounts
The anti-corruption
campaign of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration appears
to have taken a bigger bite as the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission has secretly frozen the bank accounts of former President
Goodluck Jonathan’s associates, SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt. One of
our correspondents learnt that the move by the anti-graft agency was
aimed at scuttling the tranfer of the alleged looted funds from the
accounts for other reasons.
CRIME NEWS: Boko Haram member, Kabiru Sokoto sentenced to life imprisonment
Kabiru Sokoto, a member of Boko Haram sect accused of facilitating bomb
attacks on the police headquarters in Sokoto State and some other
government organizations in the state between 2007 and 2012 was on
September 4th sentenced to life imprisonment by a Abuja based high
court. Presiding judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola found Kabiru guilty

CURRENT AFFAIRS: Olu Of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II Dies After 28 Years on the Throne
Multiple sources who spoke to NEWSMEN, said Olu of Warri, Ogiame
Atuwatse II, likely died from a brain injury he suffered after falling
from the stairs of his Warri residence. Atuwatse, who had also
suffered a stroke recently, was due to have surgery at the Reddington
Hospital in Victoria Island, Lagos, where he was transported to when he
passed on, the sources said.
POLITICS: Buhari Bows to Pressure, Says He Must Give Free Food to School Pupils
Vice- President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo said the President Muhammadu
Buhari’s administration would soon commence giving primary school
children free meals. The vice president said the free feeding
scheme was a core project of the Federal Government that would in turn
yield about 1.14 million jobs and increase in food production. Osinbajo
said this at the 45th Annual Accountants Conference in Abuja. He said the government would be investing
