Multiple sources who spoke to NEWSMEN, said Olu of Warri, Ogiame
Atuwatse II, likely died from a brain injury he suffered after falling
from the stairs of his Warri residence. Atuwatse, who had also
suffered a stroke recently, was due to have surgery at the Reddington
Hospital in Victoria Island, Lagos, where he was transported to when he
passed on, the sources said.
Newsmen was told that his body has been flown back to Warri for burial rites.
At least two prominent traditional rulers from the Oduduwa dynasty have
died this quarter. The Oni of Ife, Okunade Sijuwade, who died in a
London hospital a few weeks back, after a brief ailment and the Olu of
Warri. The fate of the Oba of Benin, Omo N’ Oba Erediauwa, who has not
been seen in public for months remains unclear till this day.
