POLITICS: Endy Edeson Disagrees with Nigerian Senate over Social Media Bill

Edeson Online News editor, ENDY EDESON, has faulted the Nigerian senate move to pass social media bill to restrain citizen’s whistle blowing rights. Though, the senate claims the bill is an approach of regulating the social media against false and defamatory information. Mr. Edeson stated that the bill is against freedom of speech and was meant to protect airing politicians. He however, called

on relevant authorities, including the senate to discontinue such unnecessary bill. Edeson made this known in a media parley yesterday in Lagos.

It was in the news within the week that the senate wants a 2 year jail term for anyone who posts false information on the internet.
