
President
Mohammad Buhari has rejected the list of seven members of the National
Working Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) jostling to be
appointed as ministers. The national officers of the party
according to a high placed source, got the shock of their lives when
they visited there president Muhammad Buhari, recently at the Defence
House temporary office in Abuja.
Our reporter gathered that
when the national chairman of the party presented the ambitions of his
council members to Mr. Buhari, he quickly warned them to kill the
ambitions saying, all of them should face their responsibility as party
leaders.
Some of the APC NWC members jostling for ministerial
positions according to the sources include the National Publicity
Secretary, Alhaji Lai Muhammad, who hails fro Kwrara state, former
governor of Ekiti state and Deputy National Chairman (South) Segun Oni,
National Vice Chairman (North-east) Engr. David B. Lawal from Adamawa,
National Youth Leader, Alhaji Dasuki Jalo from Gombe, National Women
Leader, Alhaja Ramatu Tijjani from Kogi state and Emmanuel Eneukwu from
Enugu state.
The source said: “When the NWC members met with Buhari on the issue of ministerial appointment, though the national chairman refused to tender the request of some NWC members who want to be ministers to President Buhari, the only thing he told him was for his leadership to be carried along in the process.
“But it seems President Buhari knew what was about to happen, he told the party leaders right there not to contemplate becoming part of his cabinet, he told them to stay where they are and build a strong party.”
Another party leader from southern region, who pleaded anonymity disclosed that the inordinate ambition of some leaders of the party responsible for the poor handling of the crisis rocking the National Assembly over its leadership.
