CURRENT AFFAIRS: Radio Biafra Hits Airwaves In Niger-delta

A strange radio station operating from an unknown location has hit the airwaves in Rivers State with the name ‘Radio Biafra’, on 87.9/88.0Fm Channel and on 97.6Fm on other Biafra provinces. The location of the radio station as well as its mode of operation is yet to be ascertained. The Radio Biafra has only one familiar voice, who calls himself ‘Director’. The Director who has the name Nnamdi Kalu, who hails from Ibeku in Umuahia, Aba province of Biafraland. He frequently refers to the listeners as the Indigenous People of Biafra. The Director, in one of his broadcasts, took a swipe at both the
incumbent President and the President-elect for their recent activities.
He consistently makes comments pitching the North and the West against the Niger-Delta, stressing people of the Niger-Delta were being “enslaved in Nigeria” which he refers to as a “zoo”.
The Director, who never fails to mention about the wickedness of black people from africa, stating that their hearts and souls are wicked and full of bad things, he cites examples of what happens in black african countries, historically to always buttress his point. In the same vein, his broadcasts are mostly anti-western.

Taking a cue from the recent comments credited to the Oba of Lagos, HRM Rilwan Akinolu on the Igbo community in Lagos in the run-off to the Governorship election, the anonymous voice on Radio Biafra said words like ‘non-indigene’ should not be used in a country that claims it is united.

“See ordinary Oba Akinolu calling you people non-indigene in your own country. If you are travelling from Lagos through the Lagos-Ibadan express way, you will see black pipelines. They are all oil pipelines. The oil is coming from Biafra land to Yoruba land, yet they call you non-indigenes.

“When it comes to the issue of oil, we are one Nigeria but when it is time for the igbos to vote and look after their families, they turn to non-indigenes”.

The voice further said, “You are leaving a solid economy behind when you have the lives of the people miserable. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been lying to the people of Biafra because of President Goodluck Jonathan. How can a woman who claims she was at the world bank be lying? Please show me the part of the economy that has solid backing.

“Let Jonathan tell you which part of the economy he has solidified. He knows you are all gullible people.

“Surpring enough, the Director calls Jonathan Imbecilic and weak-hearted and always say he lacks the acumen to lead anyone.

“Jonathan has approved Enugu free trade zone on the pages of newspaper and you believe them. The same set of people told you the 2nd Niger bridge will be built but it was only on the Yoruba zoo newspapers”.

Endy Edeson

@SONUBI: Biafra Republic to me will continue to be an IMAGINATION to those advocating for it. remeber what this same biafra cost us in the past. this guys should just surrender to the centralized govt. One Nigeria

Jesse Osayande Vucinic Ehiagwina

One Nigeria is only a figment of the imagination. Biafra though? Can't see it happening soon. The Igbo's aren't united enough to force it.

Adebowale Sonubi

In as much as i want ONE NIGERIA ....don't you think if everyone answer their own papa name ...there will be less problem and more areas to cover in respect of research and development.....this tribe issue is costing us a lot...if we have Oodua republic, arewa republic ,biafra republic....then we use visa to enter each other's land with outstanding recognition...what do u think about that

Chukwunweike James Nnakwue Nnaemena

Endy Endeson, your father there. You must be Okorocha blood brother

Ehuwa Toluwalase Jossyblaze

hmmm...I av a feeling smth crazy is on its way for dis gmb administration....watch out nigeria....

Chukwunweike James Nnakwue Nnaemena

Ocean must swallow our haters

Adebowale Sonubi

Believe me...I don't see any reason why we can't let everyone go.....i dont know why we are sticking together...i still need a tangible reason.....

Chukwunweike James Nnakwue Nnaemena

1967-1970 Nigeria won.

I believe its possible, although problems will neva end in dis wicked world,it will help put an end to d fraud called “NIGERIA“.Meaning we wud all hav equal opportunity to re-write a constitution, and put laws in place dat will give all individuals a level playing field.d struggle however must b non-violent,and d name shd b changed to represent all parties involved.

Endy Edeson

@chukwunweike: iam not against the tag "Biafra Region", what i'm not comfortable with is the tag "Biafra Republic" . Yes, The south east should be regarded as BIAFRA just like as South-South is regarded as NIGER-DELTA. i will advice the guys running this project to have a rethink. remeber what happened to ISAAC BORO & KEN SARO WIWA when they fought against the centra govt. Though, Biafra can only come through if a pro-briafra president is elected in Nigeria, outside that it will be difficult. We as a Nation have gone through a lot in past. this time is not a time of civil unrest, we are living peacefully now and no group should come and disorganise an arrangement called Nigeria. i wonder why THE RADIO STATION is aired in Niger Delta instead of SOUTH/EAST. Biafra is not a recognise "word" in portharcourt & it's environs right from the sound of time. so it' can't be a breeding ground for them. What i will advise them is to just promote the region as BIAFRA region not BIAFRA republic

Endy Edeson

@JESSE: your comment made me laugh. please can you explain the DISUNITY among the igbos.

Raphael Ajunwa

Good news

Jesse Osayande Vucinic Ehiagwina

Endy, Igbo's forcing Biafra won't come to fruition. They're too divided. The disparity between the old and the new generation on this issue is clear. Also, the fact they wouldn't come to a consensus. They don't have 1 man to bring them together at least not to my knowledge. + they think about what their losses would be should this happen. Their businesses would suffer. Most have established themselves and have a foothold away from their region. As I say to my Igbo friends, their political naivety and intelligence is not high enough. They're satisfied to take the bread when the bakery is there to be had.

Raphael Ajunwa

Pikin we say him papa no go sleep will never sleep,GEJ was made not to sleep so whoever is coming will not also sleep chikina

Gbaboyor Felix

@endy pls my comment is in respect to d soon to be declared referendum by d LOWER NIGER CONGRESS.Biafra ideology shd b replaced with that of LNC;things will work out dat way.

Muhammad Yusuf Musa

Does dat were calling for d break up of dis country, did not know d history of how does countries dat break up became after d break up, no any country just sit down and break up just like dat, and look at d south sudan, wat is dere faith now? We should just pray for peaceful co existance...

Adebowale Sonubi

Gbaboyor Felix - I agree with you......i was just hoping we will divide this thing peacefully....is it bcos of the crude oil we are sticking together...i dont care if the igbos doesnt have a leader or not..everyone should take care of his own republic....having a region will still bring problem...let yoruba lead yoruba republic and others do their own as well.....why do we have to die together....there will continue to be problem..if igbo want to fight themselves....let them...if hausa wants to do the same ..let them ....as well as yoruba...we will know its brother to brother...but the issue of ethnic and tribal issues keeps coming up...me i don tire....i am nt tripping a bit for crude oil...i love research and development more than that thing...

Kenny J Oyeduntan

an igbo man living in southwest, enjoying his life and av businesses in southwest cannot claim to av recognized biafra republic and again, d oil we are talking about Is not on their land.igbos are too sectional

Adebowale Sonubi

me don tire on this topic...walahi....

Azeez Adekoya Falcon

Biafra reform Biafra republic or whatsoever. let see them swing into action and hw far they can go

Chukwunweike James Nnakwue Nnaemena

Muhammad Yusuf Musa is not yet time for that your prayer. Retalliation is naver a bad omen.

Alaribe Okechukwu Stanley

Let the rising sun shine; Biafra all the way.

Habeeb Adewale Mustapha

Biafra ko, Biafro ni!

Alaribe Okechukwu Stanley

We cant continue decieving ourselves, lets tell ourselves the truth about this zoo called Nigeria. In this country we have diferent ethnic groups with diferent cultures and religion, then how can we be one?

Gbenga Odeyemi

Biafra BAD Omen

Eze Solomon Emeka

I support Buhari at the moment, but if things continue the way it is after May 29 2016, then I won't have any other option than Land of the rising sun.

Olajide Young Johnson

Good Riddance To Bad Rubbish!

Uche Okor

Let's go there Biafra

Stanley Chidozie

Endy i respect you for most of your posts here but for your comments here and now am still wondering. ..

I have i simply question for you why do you think we Biafrans shouldn't be seen as a Republic?

Stanley Chidozie

Secondly why do you think that this contraption of the white man the zoo should remain as one?

Njoku Onyekachi

Biafra we love !!!

Obasi Peter King

The prbm of Nigeria is that we don't look at the big picture..we don't have an idea of what we can achieve if only we can put our diff aside and embrace peace.. Thr is power in diversity just like my role model Ben Carson stated in his book(the big picture) we just have to bring our GOD given talent together and put religious and tribe aside and we are on our way of becoming the next world power

Jacy Anumudu

Hmmm still watching

Eze Solomon Emeka

Obasi, It's impossible to put our difference aside, we just need to understand our difference and value ourselves, not a Nigeria where some set people will be reffered to as "non indegen" in their own country.

Obasi Peter King

Impossible is nothing, anything is possible if we put our mind together

Eze Solomon Emeka

We don't have to put it aside, we just need to understand ourselves more better.

Ezeji Nnecky Chidinma
