Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, has denied seeking asylum in any part of the world, as widely reported. New York-based online news platform Sahara Reporters, citing the Business Council for Africa (BCA), said that the minister had been rejected by six countries in her search for asylum ahead of an imminent probe by incoming president Muhammadu Buhari.
“Given her reputation, it comes as no surprise to learn that 6 countries have already refused to grant her asylum to live in their countries as she now wishes to leave Nigeria at the earliest possible opportunity,” Sahara Reporters quoted BCA to have said in the monthly report it just released.
Madueke was also alleged to have fled Nigeria last week, feigning sickness, for fear of being probed.
However, Madueke, who spoke through the Group Public Affairs General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Ohi Alegbe, Tuesday night, denied ever contemplating relocating from Nigeria.
