Manchester City's Yaya Toure has been named the African Player of the Year 2014 by the Confederation of African Football at an awards ceremony held in Lagos on Thursday evening. The Ivoirian won the title for a fourth straight time beating off competition from local favourite Vincent Enyeama and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the title. In the ceremony, Nigeria produced the African Women Player award, Africa Youth Player of the Year as well as the National Team of the Year.
However, it was the Ivoirian Toure who was called up to the podium again winning the award for a record fourth time after previous sucesses in 2011, 2012 and 2013
GUYS, Do You Think He Deserves This Title For The 4th Time?

He deserves it but like all awards I don't give credence to it. Why? Cos they all play different positions. Yaya isn't a better GK than Enyeama or a better forward than Aubameyang. These awards really downgrade the achievements of players and they won't get recognition. It'll be better to brake them down into positions like besk GK, midfielder, forward of the year. That way it accounts for lots of factors. How do you judge people who's work aren't related at all?. Is like saying a doc is the best profession in the world. Context matters.

politics has entered soccer house everywhere... even blatter wants to run again for fifa presidency. a situation in which one player wins the same award for the umpteenth time is SUSPICIOUS

@enyinda & jesse: it's really odd for toure to win this award again. even if he meets all criterias to win, they should have honoured someone else who is also doing well. 4th time?Nah for me.

@ Endy. Hence why it should be broken down. How do you rate a better deserving person in a subjective case? Its practically almost impossible.
