Pandemonium as lecturer collapses in class in Maiduguri

Panic engulfed Ramat Polytechnic in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Monday, when a male lecturer suddenly slumped while taking a general studies class.

The incident which occurred at about 8: 30am, caused confusion as many students rushed out of the lecture hall. Some quickly rushed the lecturer to the school clinic.

Our source, a student, who spoke on condition of anonymity said such scenario was becoming a norm in the institution.

He attributed the situation to the over-crowding of the hall, saying often time, a large number of students receive lectures under unhealthy conditions.

“It happens regularly in the school. Sometimes we have two or more students passing out within a week. It is terrible. We need more buildings on the campus to ease this hardship.”

On the state of the lecturer, the source said he was resuscitated at the clinic but has yet resumed duties.

Hmmm why won't he collapse when he is giving lectures in an small unventilated hall with a large number of students. This is a pathetic situation. You have hundreds if not thousands studying a particular course why not make provisions for a bigger lecture hall or rather divide them into groups maybe A and B or even extend it to C. They would still be studying the same course, using the same course outline, everything would be the same but in a different group which would make everything easier. Let them feel comfortable while having the lectures. Or rather erect more larger halls these students are paying for crying out loud.
