The Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan will address the nation today, Tuesday at 7am. A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, says the address will air live at 7 a.m. on the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN). This will be the second time he will be addressing the nation in two weeks. It would be recalled that in his last address, on Independence Day October 1 address, the President had falsely claimed that Transparency International had endorsed his administration’s anti-corruption campaign.
There are no indications as to the substance of the address – but it is likely to be connected to the nation’s string of tragedies – Boko Haram, flood and citizen killings.
