13 passengers aboard a Sudanese
military plane have died after the plane crashed west of Omdurman city.
The plane Antonov 12 is said to have been on a mission
from Khartoum to el Fasher and was carrying 16 people; there were also 6 crew
members. They crashed in Al-Sawarmy Khalid Saad, the Sudanese military
spokesman said the plane crashed east of Khartoum and all members aboard were
military personnel.
The nine survivors were severely injured and were
rushed to hospital to get immediate help. “The plane’s crash was due to a technical fault,” the spokesman said. He went on to add that the pilot first reported a stoppage of one of the plane’s engines and then the second one before crashing at an area some 40 km west of Omdurman city while the pilot was trying to make an emergency landing
