Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has suspended five of its top members for their alleged involvement in anti-party activities. They are Amb. Olu Agbi, Chief Segun Adegoke, Dr. Akin Olowokere, Mr. Demola Adegoroye and Mr. Kunle Agunbiade.
A statement by the Director of Publicity of the PDP in the state, Mr. Ayo Fadaka, on Sunday said the politicians, “who until now were errant members of the party are hereby expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect”.
Fadaka said the “summary expulsion is predicated on the gross indiscipline and absolute disloyalty that have marked their attitude and conduct for the last one year”.
The statement reads in part, “The people have been procured by Olusegun Mimiko to continually help him to cause balkanisation of the party.
“Merciful enough, they command no following and influence to damage our party.
“Therefore, we declare without equivocation that they are already members of the Labour Party and only masquerade as our people only to cause confusion.
“Thus any purported action they claim to undertake on behalf of the party is of no effect and as they have ceased to be members of our party forthwith.
“We want to use this opportunity to reassure the general public that there is no division in our ranks as these people are striving to portray, they are only acting the role that has been carved out for them by Mimiko who is their sponsor.
“We also thank the people of this state and members of the party for the warm welcome they accorded the President when he visited on Saturday.”
Olowookere, who is the factional chairman of the party in the state, said he would address a news conference on the state of the PDP in the state today (Monday).
