Edeson Nollywood Legend Of August: Desmond Elliot

 If you’ve been following my articles and news updates, you may recall that last month, July, Nollywood screen goddess, Halima Abubakar emerged EDESON NOLLYWOOD LEGEND but it might interest to know that Desmond Elliot has been chosen as the EDESON NOLLYWOOD LEGEND for this month. He was chosen due to his charisma and contributions in the Nollywood scene.

The ideal of EDESON NOLLYWOOD LEGENDS is aimed at celebrating our indigenous talents in the Nollywood-sphere.


Desmond Elliot is one of the few celebrities in Nigeria without scandal and he is happily married with kids. He is unarguably an unassuming and God-fearing person, Desmond is the story of a hardworking and focused young man. With diligence, hardwork and perseverance, his rise to the top was rapid.

The boyish-looking and handsome man, Desmond Elliot is one of Nollywood's leading actors and has appeared in over two hundred films including Men Who Cheat, Yahoo Millionaire, Christmas Passion, Guilty Pleasure, Atlanta and host of others. In 2008 Desmond Elliot co-produced and co-directed the movie "Reloaded" which received 3 nominations at the African Movie Academy Awards.

Elliot was born to a Yoruba father and an Igbo mother; because of this, Elliot has described himself as being a Pan-African. He received his primary education at Air Force Primary School and later attended St John’s College, both in Jos Plateau State. In 2003 he graduated from Lagos State University where he studied Economics.
Elliot was influenced by a friend to become an actor. He started playing roles in soap operas like Everyday People, One Too Much and Saints and Sinners.

Soft spoken and easy going actor-turned Director/producer, Desmond Elliot is releasing his long-awaited movie, 'In The Cupboard' in cinemas, nationwide as from the 17th of August 2012! The movie which was successfully premiered in several cities is the U.S last year is finally set for release in Nigeria.

'In The Cupboard' is a story that revolves around the lives of six siblings born into the rich, aristocratic Desouza family; a name synonymous with wealth & power. Everything seems perfect in their lives until their father dies unexpectedly and all of them gather together from different parts of the world to be with their mother, the elegant matriarch Veronica 'Ronnie’ Desouza ( Biola Williams) by for two weeks.

What ensues is a series of events that threatens to shake the family to its very foundations! The movie's star-studded cast includes Nollywood star actress Ini Edo alongside Big Brother Africa Winner, Uti Nwachukwu, Award winning Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson, Mr Nigeria 1st Runner-Up, Alexx Ekubo, ZAFAA Award winner, Bishop Ime Umoh and features upcoming actors Morris Sesay and Tessy Abubakar. Marketed under the Royal Arts Academy brand, the movie was executive produced by Desmond Elliot & Caroline Danjuma and produced & directed by Desmond Elliot.
